It was the concert of concerts. Fans came from near and far. Those attending the April 19th show at Viper Alley listed fans from Indonesia, Canada, Wisconsin, New York,Montana,Texas, Florida,Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and I’m sure I missed a state or a country somewhere in there. But the point is that they traveled for many miles to the windy city of Chicago to watch Lee DeWyze perform his music on his home turf at Viper Alley.

Four years ago many of these people didn’t even know each other. Brought together by the love of DeWyze’s music they now call themselves friends and family. They stay at each others houses and they travel together. They are connected in real time by social media and they tweet real time show pictures and post video’s.

Knowing all of this it came as no surprise when one local Chicago fan, Annie (@DeWyzeFan6),told me she was going to purchase 300 glow sticks to hand out to concert goers as a surprise for Lee when he sang his new single, Silver Lining at the Viper Alley show FridaSurprised he was! Take a look at the following video’s where 300 glow sticks lite up the venue during Lee’s performance of Silver Lining!

Lee DeWyze took to social media this morning to announce he will be back on the American Idol stage this Thursday to perform his new single, Silver Lining.

Via Twitter and FaceBook DeWyze told fans:

“I will be performing “Silver Lining” on American idol Thursday night 4/25! 

#Surprise :) “.

Released by Vanguard Records, Silver Lining will be DeWyze’s first single off his highy anticipated new record that is scheduled to release in the summer.

Since the days of Season 9 of American Idol, Lee DeWyze has been greeted by his hometown fans with warmth and affection for their native son. Such was the case Friday night when DeWyze played at Viper Alley in Lincolnshire to a standing room only crowd.

Earlier this month an official press release from DeWyze’s label Vanguard Records announced that a new single “Silver Lining” would be released followed by a new record this summer. With links to an acoustic in-studio video of the new track as well as a recorded studio version, Silver Lining was met with positive reviews from both fans and critics. The recorded track on Vanguards SoundCloud playlist has garnered over 25,000 listens with the YouTube in-studio video closing in on ten thousand views in a little more than a week.

With his new single in tow DeWyze took the stage at Viper Alley Friday night with another peek at his record for the hometown fans who helped earn him the Idol crown just three years ago. The new track titled “Don’t Be Afraid” continues to show the lyrical strength in his new music which is all penned by DeWyze with collaborations with well known industry favorites such as Toby Gad, Drew Pearson, Jim Scott, Matthew Wilder and Phil Allen.
